Katherine Shearer is a Sydney-based performer and producer whose work spans contemporary music, classical performance, theatre, and film. Adelaide-born and trained, she most recently served as Producer of the Contemporary Music Program at City Recital Hall, where she championed innovative artists and bold programming. After stepping away from the role in February 2026, she is reshaping her creative life in the Year of the Fire Horse, exploring new artistic pathways and collaborations.
Music has been a defining thread throughout Katherine’s life. She trained as a Baroque musician in the Single Studies program at the Adelaide Conservatorium of Music studying recorder under Lesley Lewis, and oboe with Rosemary Stimson, before continuing her development in Europe with Daniel Bruggen. In her twenties she sang soprano with the Adelaide Chamber Singers, an experience that shaped her artistic sensibility and continues to influence her choices. She now sings with CCSL Sydney under director Sam Allchurch. Her early years in Sydney also saw her form a rock–folk band, reflecting her love of music across genres.
As a film producer, Katherine is known for her commitment to excellence, equity, and imaginative, character-driven storytelling. Her short films have received awards and attracted high-profile supporters. As an actor, she has worked extensively across independent theatre and toured widely through festivals and commercial productions. She is a graduate of the Flinders Drama Centre in South Australia.
Her multidisciplinary background — spanning contemporary and classical music, theatre, and film — gives her a rare, holistic understanding of the artistic process. Katherine’s work is grounded in empathy for the artist’s experience and a commitment to elevating authentic, resonant stories.
